Heathrow 3rd Runway
Alpha Planning continues to provide advice to HAL in relation to enabling works associated with the third runway project (R3).
This has included relocating the 132Kv overhead electric lines to the west of the M25, to take them underground in order to enable the repositioning and widening of the M25.
Also two applications for ground improvement trials, to provide data in relation to building over landfill sites; and securing consent for various construction support sites surrounding the airport.

Terminal 5
In 2001, working for one of the only three planning consultants appointed, David’s main role was securing permission for much of the landside development.
This included co-ordinating applications that required environmental impact assessment for the extraction of sand, gravel and clay on sites to the west of T5, the creation of the spoil mounds to accommodate the access roads from the M25 and a COMAH application for the T5 fuel farms.

Heathrow Ground Run Pens
The successful granting of planning permission for both GRPs.
David co-ordinated the submission of planning applications and supporting documents (including writing the Design and Access Statement and Planning Statement). The project was also screened to confirm it was not EIA development.
Work included monitoring and liaising with two LPAs re the applications, conditions and S106 contributions.

BA Flight Training
The BAFT project relocated the teaching and training facilities from Cranebank onto the airport.
The work included securing planning permission and listed building consent for the development, as well as discharging the complex conditions attached to the listed building consent.
The building is a listed building so the work included a review of its heritage importance, and advice on the historical and architectural significance in order to inform the architects and team.

British Airways Waterside
BA’s corporate headquarters at Waterside sits within 250 acres of parkland, transformed from former landfill sites.
Work included creation of an award winning corporate headquarters building, and restoration of brownfield land and the creation of 250 acres of public parkland.
The project also covered improvements and investments within the historic village of Harmondsworth, and enhancements to the road network with new junctions and roundabouts.
